Over the past months, cyber crime syndicates have engineered a psychological extortion method widely reported as "Digital Arrest". Sikar Cyber Police Cell provides this educational advisory to protect all citizens, especially retired employees and students.

What Happens in a "Digital Arrest" Scheme?

1. The Intimidation Call: The victim receives an automated call claiming an illegal parcel containing narcotics or fake passports was intercepted at Mumbai or Delhi customs addressed in their name.
2. The Fake Uniform Video Call: The call is transferred to WhatsApp/Skype where a person wearing a police uniform sits in front of a fake police station backdrop with official-looking logos.
3. The "Secret Verification" Extortion: The fraudsters threaten the victim with immediate arrest unless they keep the camera on 24 hours and transfer their savings to a "RBI verification escrow account".

Action Plan if You Receive Such a Call:

• Immediately disconnect the video call. Do NOT be intimidated by uniforms or government seals.
• Do NOT transfer any money under any circumstances.
