Urgent Alert: Beware of Malicious Traffic Challan APK Files Circulating on WhatsApp
Sikar District Police issues an urgent advisory regarding fraudulent WhatsApp messages pretending to be Rajasthan Police E-Challan payment alerts carrying dangerous Android APK files.
High Priority Citizen Safety Notice
The Sikar District Police alerts all residents of Sikar, Fatehpur, Laxmangarh, Neem Ka Thana, and surrounding rural zones regarding a dangerous new phishing tactic circulating on WhatsApp messaging platform.
How the Scam Operates
Citizens receive a message stating: "A traffic violation fine of ₹1,000 has been issued against your vehicle. Download Rajasthan_Challan_V3.apk to review the vehicle photo and settle penalty before court warrant."
Upon installation, the APK file requests extensive accessibility permissions, grants criminals remote access to SMS messages, reads bank OTPs, and forwards them to servers abroad.
Rajasthan Police NEVER sends Android APK files (.apk) for fine payment. Official challans can ONLY be verified and paid through the official Government portal: echallan.parivahan.gov.in or Rajasthan Police App.
